Jack completed a formal apprenticeship with the Sculptor John Skelton which included training at Brighton College of Art. He moved to Cornwall from Sussex in 1992. Jack uses silver and 9ct and 18ct gold in his work, mixing the precious metals for dramatic effect and creating forms which reflect his experience as a sculptor and letter-carver. He also creates lettering in stone, slate, wood, copper and bronze for memorials and foundation stones. As well as being a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, Jack is a member of Letter Exchange and of the Cornwall Crafts Association. He often exhibits at Loot and the Goldsmiths' Fair, and in Edinburgh and Bruges. Jack’s commissions include memorial tablets at St Paul’s Cathedral in London. At Avant Garde we maintain a close relationship with Jack Trowbridge and are fortunate enough to be able to stock what we feel is an unrivalled selection of his work.
