Zviad Khachidze was born in the Republic of Georgia in the former Soviet Union. His training in silversmithing began in 1989 while he studied for a degree in Computer Hardware Engineering. On graduating, Zviad worked at the Georgian State Craft Studio in Tbilisi, during which time he was awarded the title Master Craftsman. In 1999 Zviad moved to the UK. The following year, after working as a jobbing jeweller in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, Zviad opened his own workshop with the help of the Prince’s Trust. Zviad decided to move beyond traditional Georgian jewellery, and concentrate on simplicity as a philosophy, using the intrinsic qualities of the materials themselves. His aim is to let the metal speak for itself, and direct him in his work. Zviad designs and makes all of his own work, and we can arrange commissions.
